Lauryn Hill... RETURNS!

Lauryn Hill is back! Early in her career, she established her reputation in the hip-hop world as a member of the Fugees. In 1998, she launched her solo career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The recording earned Hill five Grammy Awards, including the coveted Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Hill is the mother of five children now is ready to return back to music.

In a June interview with NPR reporter/producer Zoe Chace as part of NPR's 50 Great Voices Series, Hill confirmed that she was planning to begin recording again since then has appeared live.

I must say welcome back Lauryn looking forward to the new project.

No Matter!

No matter how bad it might seem, there is a lesson in the experience to make us stronger. You must learn it, and then use the lesson to move your life forward.

Mtv Exclusive: Foxy Brown Discusses Her Legal Woes

Exclusive: Foxy Brown Discusses Her Legal Woes

'If my name was Keisha Brown and not Foxy Brown, I would have been let go,' the MC tells MTV News of latest arrest.

By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway

According to Foxy Brown and her legal camp, the Brooklyn rapper is tired of conflicts with an inflexible neighbor. The former Def Jam lyricist is on the offensive when it comes to ongoing tension with a local resident, Arlene Raymond. The feuding between the two women has been so volatile in the last few years that Brown has been arrested twice, once in 2007, after she was accused of striking Raymond with a BlackBerry phone, and again last week.

Last Wednesday, authorities nabbed Foxy after she and Raymond (who has a protective order against the MC) were allegedly involved in another altercation, during which the BK rap star cursed and "mooned" Raymond, according to news reports.

Foxy spoke to MTV News on Tuesday (July 27) after her court appearance and explained there was never a shouting match between her and Raymond; Brown said she was speaking out in order to clear her name.

"I was on my way to rehearsal with my band and I was leaving my mom's house in Park Slope, [Brooklyn], where I always go; that's the home that I was born in," she said. "And the police came and they saw the situation and there wasn't any conflict or discord — they were really baffled. But a supervisor came and saw the [potential for] publicity. If my name was Keisha Brown and not Foxy Brown, I would have been let go."

Brown denied the information that reportedly was included in the police filing, including the claim that the rapper exposed her buttocks to Raymond.

"I'm just appalled by that statement alone," Foxy said.

But the two do have history that stems from being longtime neighbors, Brown admitted. The rapper suggested that Raymond and her household have a penchant for being involved in arguments with other residents of the neighborhood. The two, however, will have a chance to air their grievances in court when they are both slated to appear before a grand jury.

Brown's lawyer, Salvatore E. Strazzullo, who said his client is the one who should have a protective order granted against Raymond, said Foxy will be vigilant in defending her name and reputation in the community.

"I think Foxy could explain it herself, but in a legal way, the reason she went to court today is that she's not gonna hide from the truth and hide from accusations from this nonsensical alleged victim," Strazzullo said.

Foxy Also weighs in on Lindsay Lohan: Lindsay Lohan's Jail Sentence 'Brought Back Tears And Memories'

MC, who spent a year in prison, says, 'My heart goes out to Lindsay Lohan.'

By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Sway Calloway and Jayson Rodriguez

Lindsay Lohan's jail sentence is already close to its conclusion, but the effects of her incarceration are still being felt. The recently-jailed actress received a show of support from a New York tanning salon on Tuesday, and Foxy Brown (herself a former inmate who spent a year at Rikers Island) also gave Lohan a shout-out when she visited the MTV News office on Tuesday.

"My heart goes out to Lindsay Lohan. I watched her being taken to jail and it brought back tears and memories. It wasn't all negative, I have to say that," Brown, who was arrested again last week, told MTV News. "People just automatically think that prison stereotypically is the worst place. I was unlawfully sent to prison for a year, but I kind of welcomed the serenity when I was sentenced and I knew I had to deal with this."

Like "Hills" star Stephanie Pratt, Brown used the time to better herself and even make some friends. "I said 'You know what? Let me make the best out of this time,' " Brown said. "I'm an avid reader, so I read a lot. And the inmates were amazing. I would sit down with them and we would play cards and converse. Talking to these different women from all walks of life was incredible. There were actually three females I met while in prison who I still write to and keep in contact with."

The rapper — whose new album Black Roses is scheduled to drop soon — didn't have any particular advice for Lohan, though she did think the whole situation was unfair.

"When Puff says 'Mo money, mo problems,' it's really true," she said. "It's such a blessing being a celebrity. There are a lot of perks to being a celebrity, but the downside of it? Oh, man. You're constantly targeted. We all need to be law-abiding citizens, but I think each case needs to be ruled by the law, as opposed to this is a celebrity who is doing this and needs to be taught a lesson."

Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)

Yes, Un-thinkable (I'm Ready) has been #1 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts 12 weeks now. Upon the album's release the song charted on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart following strong digital downloads and airplay. On the chart dated May 22, 2010, it jumped from number 5 to number 1, giving Keys' her eighth number-one hit. As of August 7, 2010, the song has remained at the top spot for 12 consecutive weeks, making it her longest-staying single atop the chart so far. Previously, "No One" remained atop the chart for 10 consecutive weeks in 2007.

'Recovery' Reaches Fifth Week At No. 1, Rick Ross Comes In Second

Eminem makes it five weeks in a row at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as "Recovery" sells another 187,000 (down just 4%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. Rick Ross' "Teflon Don" arrives in the runner-up spot with 176,000. Ross' last three studio albums all debuted at No. 1, with his last set, 2009's "Deeper Than Rap," arriving with 158,000. Foxy Brown, aka Inga Marchand, leaving Brooklyn Criminal Court in her Lamborghini following a scheduled court appearance.

Now that's facing the music in style!

Like a red carpet arrival, Foxy Brown rolled up to court in a black Lamborghini Tuesday.

She emerged from her fly ride dressed to the nines in a teal dress, plunging neckline and heels to the heavens.

Her fans loved it, but Judge Geraldine Pickett couldn't care less, instead extending an order of protection a neighbor took out against Brown in 2007 when the raunchy rapper beaned her with a BlackBerry.

Brown was in Brooklyn Criminal Court for a status hearing on allegations she violated the original order when she tangled with Arlene Raymond outside her Prospect Heights home last week.

Brown cursed Raymond out, bent over and thrust her exposed butt out, authorities said.

"B----, what are you looking at?" she snarled, according to the criminal complaint. "Kiss my a--."

Foxy, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was represented by a new lawyer, Salvatore Strazzullo, hired Sunday after Bruce Barron surprisingly announced he was no longer working with her.

"We deny the allegations that she mooned Ms. Raymond," Strazzullo said. "Ms. Marchand is innocent, absolutely innocent."

Prosecutor David Weiss said evidence would be presented to a grand jury.

"Yes, I will testify before a grand jury," Foxy said outside the courtroom.

"We just had a sold out concert at B.B. King's," she added.

"LeBron James couldn't make it, but I'm here."

Strazzullo also asked that an an order of protection be issued against Raymond.

The judge denied it. NyDailyNews reports.

Now I must say Foxy maybe you are doing right with your money. Stay out of trouble Miss Brown...much Luv ~Bruce Avery~

Monster Ball Could Wrap At $150-200 Million

A MONSTER indeed! Arthur Fogel of concert promoters Live Nation tells the new Rolling Stone that Lady GaGa's world tour is on track to earn between $150 - $200 MILLION before it wraps in 2011!

Lady GaGa, tour is doing amazing with (98.9%) tickets sold only halfway through the tour best believe GaGa's tour numbers will be up there with Madonna's (Sticky & Sweet Tour). They are already impressed by the pompousness and the theatricality of the show, comparing it to the tours of artists like Madonna.

Alicia Keys and Swizz made their way to the Hamptons on Saturday, July 24 where Beatz was honored at the 11th Annual Art for Life Benefit at Russell Simmons' East Hampton estate in New York. Keys looked stunning in a strapless brown dress with her baby-bump shown, while Beatz opted a formal look in a white suit. Beside the happy couple the fund-raising event drew other big names such as John Legend or Deepak Chopra.

I must say again these to are showing people they are one. I am so happy for Alicia Keys & Swizz, I wish the couple much peace.

Power outages plague DC region after storm.

Electricity provider Pepco said Monday that about 220,000 residences across the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia were still in the dark -- and without air-conditioning -- following one of the hottest days of the year.

July's brutal onslaught of record heat continued in the eastern United States, with temperature records set Sunday in Baltimore, Maryland, where it hit 100 degrees, and Washington, where it was 98.

By Monday afternoon, damage had been reported across the region from 270 downed trees or very large limbs, including approximately 20 full large trees, according to the District Department of Transportation. More than 20 traffic signals remained out because of power problems, the department added.

The storm was part of a slow-moving front that struck parts of the Northeast before moving south.

Heat advisories and warnings continue for the Deep South in parts of Georgia and South Carolina through Monday; the heat index is expected to exceed 105 degrees.

CNN's Angela Fritz, Jonathan Helman and Devon Sayers contributed to this report.

SALT!

Yay moviegoers! You are rewarding the best-reviewed movies of the summer with your pocketbooks. While Angelina Jolie earned an estimated $36.5 million of your money this weekend for her taut actioner Salt, Inception was also a huge recipient of your cash falling only 31 percent its second weekend in theaters. In fact the $43.5 million the movie earned put its total at $143.6 million for its first ten days in theaters. (In IMAX alone the film grossed $4.8 million.) Despicable Me also benefited from your discerning tastes, falling only 26 percent its third weekend in theaters for a total box office take of $161 million.

Unfortunately Ramona and Beezus did not connect with audiences. The weekend’s other new wide release generated only $8 million and landed in sixth place for its opening frame. Those who did see the movie liked it, with audiences giving the film an A- according to CinemaScore but it wasn’t enough of a crowd to push the grosses past $10 million. That’s in contrast to the B+ that Salt earned from moviegoers. Directed by Philip Noyce, the action-thriller scored equally well with men and women, though women made up a larger component of the audience with 59 percent of the audience over 25. Of course Jolie was the primary draw to the film. With Ramona, which starred newcomer Joey King and tween pop star Selena Gomez, the G-rated flick was received best by young girls and their grandmothers.

Spot four and five for the weekend went to Disney movies. Despite a weak beginning, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice held in fairly well its second weekend in theaters, losing 45 percent of its value. Grossing another $9.7 million, the PG-rated actioner has grossed $42.6 million. Toy Story 3 also earned another $9 million its sixth weekend in theaters. The monster hit of the summer lost only 25 percent of its value putting its total gross at an impressive $379 million.

Grown Ups took the seventh slot. The Adam Sandler-starrer also held up remarkably well, losing only 23 percent of its value in its fifth weekend in theaters. With an additional $7.6 million, the film’s total stands at $142 million. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is still in the top ten. The PG-13 rated romance lost 48 percent of its value its fourth weekend in release, for an additional $7 million and a total cume of close to $280 million. M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender grabbed the ninth slot while Predators took spot ten. Airbender earned an additional $4 milion putting its total gross at $123 million while Predators fell an additional 59 percent for another $2.8 million and has only grossed $46.5 million after three weekend in release.

The strong performances of the top three releases helped propel the box office to 8 percent above last year at this time when G-Force, The Ugly Truth and Orphan opened.

In limited release, The Kids Are All Right continues to do great business. The Julianne Moore, Annette Bening-starrer grossed $2.6 million in only 201 theaters. It’s per theater average of $13,000 has propelled its two-week limited gross to close to $5 million.

Alicia Keys Recommits to Contract With EMI Publishing

While Alicia Keys may have recently parted ways with Jeff Robinson–her manager since she was just a talented 14-year-old with a budding career–she has recommitted to a long-standing relationship with EMI Music Publishing. Keys first signed with EMI to handle her publishing when she was only 15. The new expanded deal will give the company representation of Keys’ deep catalog of songs for years to come.

“EMI and I have formed an incredible partnership over the years,” Keys said in a press statement. “It’s wonderful to have a home here that supports my artistry.”

That artistry has paid huge dividends for EMI on publishing deals. Keys’ catalog includes hits such as ‘A Woman’s Worth,’ ‘Fallin’,’ ‘Like You’ll Never See Me Again,’ ‘Superwoman’ and her recent sequel to ‘Empire State of Mind.’ Needless to say, the embattled company is pretty excited that Keys decided not to ditch them, too.

“Alicia Keys is without doubt one of the most important and accomplished songwriters of her generation, writing music that connects with fans across the world,” added Jon Platt, the president of North American creative at EMI Music Publishing. “We’re proud to have worked with her throughout her career to date, and to continue to represent such an incredible catalog of songs.”

American Idol - Top Money Earners

Forbes has announced its latest list of Top 10 American Idol money earners for the past year and, once again, the two most successful winners remain atop the list. No real surprise there. Daughtry, the most popular non-winner, also remains toward the top.

Surprises? Perhaps Kellie Pickler ranking so high (No. 4) though she writes her songs and has toured frequently and Kris Allen making the cut at 10 and the far higher profile Adam Lambert missing out.

The reasons? Though Adam's album sold more than twice as many copies as Kris' there is little money to be made through CD sales, especially if you're just the performer. Songwriters and producers get their cut first. Once you subtract the label's grab there's little left for the artist unless the album sells in the millions and few artists manage that these days.

Adam's income would come largely from touring and merchandising and his tour just started, or is soon to get underway. Kris' income would likely be the result of those Ford commercials he's landed. One would expect Adam to make the list next year if the tour does well. The one season to fail to make the list this year: Season 3, Fantasia's year. Ruben Studdard, Season 2 winner, and Taylor Hicks, Season 5 victor, also missed.

1. Kelly Clarkson -- $8 million

2. Carrie Underwood -- $7 million

3. Chris Daughtry -- $5.4 million

4. Kellie Pickler -- $4.3 million

5. David Cook -- $2.3 million

6. Jennifer Hudson -- $2 million

7. Jordin Sparks -- $1.8 million

8. David Archuleta -- $1.4 million

9. Clay Aiken -- $800,000

10. Kris Allen -- $672,000

Fantasia Barrino didn't make the Top 10 I see. She's still one of the Best Winners. Luv Ya Fantasia!

Reality Today!

You can't lift yourself up by putting other people down. And you will never impress everyone by stepping on anyone. In fact, there really is no need to try to impress people at all. Those who really care about you don't have to be impressed. Those who don't care about you never can be. Everybody loves a star, but that doesn't mean they love you. What they love is the image of you, the makeup you wear in public, the glitz, the glitter. At the end of the day, after the curtain goes down and the lights go up, after you've wiped off the makeup and you sit there staring in the mirror at the real you, you know what really matters most. It is Unconditional Love of Family and True Friends & Lovers. A Love that doesn't start with a Hit or end with a Flop. A Love some don't appreciate until it's to late.
